Step 6: Register with the ACNC

What Is the ACNC?

The Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) is the national regulator for charities. You must register here to be officially recognised as a charity and to access charity tax benefits.

How to Register

  1. Go to the ACNC registration page.
  2. Answer questions about your group, its purpose, and your Responsible People.
  3. Upload your constitution (from Step 4).
  4. Submit your form and wait for approval. This can take a few weeks.

  • Your ABN (Step 1)
  • Your chosen structure (Step 2)
  • Your constitution (Step 4)
  • Names and details of your Responsible People (Step 5)
