What you’ll learn

  • Types of evidence (allied reports, logs, school documents, incident reports)
  • Four principles: relevance, clarity, currency and linkage to function
  • How to evaluate whether a report will help your case

Four core principles

  1. Relevance: the document must address the functional barrier.
  2. Clarity: the recommendation must be explicit (what, how often, who provides it).
  3. Currency: evidence should be recent and demonstrative of current need.
  4. Linkage: the report must clearly connect the support to the participant’s goals and daily impact.

Activity — Evaluate a report

Take a recent allied health report and check it against the four principles. Note two strengths and two gaps.
