Step 5: Responsible People
Who Are Responsible People?
These are the people who help govern your charity. They’re legally in charge and need to act in the best interests of your group. You might also know them as:
Board Members
Committee Members
Directors
You must list at least 3 Responsible People when applying to the ACNC.
Support to Choose and Prepare
You don’t have to know everything yet. We’ll provide:
🧠 A plain-language summary of legal duties
📝 A Responsible People register template
📄 A guided onboarding pack (coming soon)
You’ll need your Responsible People’s names and contact details when applying to the ACNC.
What's Next
Once you’ve confirmed your Responsible People, you can move on to getting a Tax File Number (TFN) or applying to register with the ACNC.
